The scope of developing this part of Ørestad was to ensure that a nature park with listed plants and animals would be able to achieve within a big new city devellopment .
A third of Ørestad's overall area of 310 hectares consists of city parks or nature area. From this 72 hectares make up the great green space near Grønjordssøen south of Ørestad North. The area bids for a varied landscape with wetlands, openings, reed swamp, thickets and forest vegetation - and a multiplicity of animals and plants.
The grønjords-lake is very much varied with areas with different water levels, mounds by rushes as well as a widespread reed swamp.
At the edge of a lake you find for instance yellow iris and bulrushes. Over the lake the area bids for six smaller wetlands.
