The design for Dampfærgevej emphasizes the adjacent canal and creates a spatial link between the terrace and the promenade.
Materials were chosen to give various expressions through the seasons.
Winter brings frost in the waterponds and reflects cold light on the concrete pavement. In the summertime strawberries grow in steel containers,as the sun warms up the wooden deck and creates a nice spot to sit and rest, enjoying the view of the channel. Large amorphous benches are placed like a pattern to contrast the concrete pavement. The ramp, abutted by a wooden stepped seating edge, creates another striking contrast to the concrete pavement and functions to link the terrace to the cobblestone promenade along the canal.
