With its unique location, Kronborg is an architectural and national symbol. The purpose of the new design is to restore Kronborg´s historical layout, and to create a more comprehensible and functional destination for travellers as well as the residents of Elsinore.
The idea is to create an open space around the castle that accentuates the strategic placement of Kronborg on the outermost point of the Sound.
The surroundings of the castle are treated to give the impression of the old fortification. The Von Scholten Ravelin is recreated in the same shape it originally was, but now serves as a large open plaza that can be used for public gatherings and cultural activities.
